After calming the lives of 150,000 people, and making more than 1,200,000 people homeless, A big question is being created in the mind of people and earthquake experts; who is the next? Now, after Haiti, Geophysics' are more concerned about Nepal and its future possible earthquake strike because of its geographical make up. Nepal lies just above the border between two huge plates that have moved together over millions of years to form the Himalayas. Nepal lies in just above the seismic zone and tectonic plate which is one of those countries where the earthquakes are frequent and sometimes very devastating. Nepal has already experienced terrible damages in the 1934 and 1988 earthquakes. Based on the records, in these two strikes of earthquakes in past 75 years, more than 4000 people died. The reason of less number of deaths was just because of the less number of population and less number of homes. Now, the situation is different. Houses and building are everywhere. The city areas are growing. Houses are built. From the top view, Cities looks like a forest of buildings. Geologist believes, the next big earthquake in the range of 8.1 to 8.3 on the Richter scale is expected any time, which could kill at least 50,000 people and can cause to be 1000,000 people homeless. Construction of earthquake-resistant buildings remained an important challenge in Nepal. Nepal has no building codes, which is same in Haiti. So, the houses are built in a random way. That was the main reason why most of the buildings were destroyed. In Nepal, due to the poor control government of Nepal, the houses and building are being built in an uncontrolled way, with the improper or unacceptable structures, which has more chances of getting destroyed in any kinds of earth quake above the 5-6 Richter scale. The historical earthquake of 1934 devastated more than 207,000 buildings. The prediction of next earthquake and its damages is going to be worst than anyone could imagine. Kathmandu, which is the capital city of Nepal, will be badly affected by the next earthquake. Since, Kathmandu is a biggest city of Nepal, this place is a business centre too. Since 5 years, the buildings are being built for the business purpose. Now, many shopping malls and complexes everywhere, which are built in less than 5 months which a poor construction methods. Being a capital city, the population is increasing day per day, now Kathmandu, has the population of 1,442,271. This is a city, which has major hospitals and Nursing homes, business office, government offices and everything major aspects of the nations. In the same way, this is the same place which will suffer the maximum disaster in the next earthquake threats. The level of the disaster can be so devastating. People will suffer from the death, illness and starvation, if the earthquake strikes this place. Nepal is a beautiful country with mountains and hills and forests, but Nepalese has a threat that this beauty will turn to a nightmare one day and people will suffer from the massive level of destruction. Even still in Terai reason of Nepal, many people are homeless because of the recurring flooding of caused by Koshi River, a largest river of Nepal. Every year average of 330 deaths dies because of the landslide and flooding, resulting many people homeless and children orphans. Rescue will be another big problem for Nepal, in earthquake situation. There is only one international airport in Nepal. This airport is called Tribhuvan International Airport and lies in the capital city of Nepal, that is, Kathmandu. Since, Kathmandu is a one of the prone reason for earthquake, if this city is destroyed along with the airport, then, Nepal will go through a nightmare of deaths and starvation which will overcome with a massive hazardous epidemic diseases. If the Airport of Kathmandu will destroy, then Nepal will have no international support. On the top of that, land transport can be barely imagined if road and bridges are destroyed. More than 200,000 public properties, important and historic infrastructures have been badly destroyed. Nepal could have learned the good lesson after the big strike of two earthquakes of 1934 and 1988, but the problems are always same. The leaders of Nepal have a short term memories because their mind is being corrupted by money and powers. Nothing has changed till now. Nepal has learned nothing from these past two disasters. If this would be a little a serious about the earthquake, they could make a strict law, which would clearly define the structure of a building. In closing, The earthquake strike of Haiti should serve as a wakeup call to all of these political parties of Nepal who are leading this country. The government should give attention to the possible threat. No one can stop the natural disaster but we can minimize the casualties by preparing ourselves to these kinds of threats. Hence, it is needed to learn the lessons from the inopportune occurrence and make sufficient provision which can tackle the nation's earthquakes challenges. It is not usually the earthquake itself that kills the people but the buildings and infrastructures poorly built due to lack of awareness, poverty and corruption. Therefore, good governance of the country is crucial to minimize the risks of earthquake and other natural disasters.
